Ataccama is an established software company active primarily in the US, Canada, and Europe that helps companies around the world manage and improve their data so they can reliably use it for analytics, operations, and regulatory compliance. We’re currently looking for a new Accountant with experience in A/P management and processing payroll in Canada and USA for our growing finance department in Toronto.
Your Challenge
Payables & Accounting:
Perform monthly and year-end reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
Conduct expenditure and variance analyses; prepare supporting reports and insights
Reconcile inter-company accounts and support external audits with documentation and responses
Prepare regulatory, statutory, and tax filings for review
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
Support team members with accounting and payroll-related queries and training
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Manage finance-related inquiries from the shared inbox
Contribute to other accounting-related tasks as needed
Payroll:
Own end-to-end payroll processing for Canada and the US via third-party providers
Manage employee lifecycle changes (hires, terminations, compensation, benefits) and validate HRIS data
Reconcile payroll data for accounting system integration
Prepare year-end tax forms, remittances, and compliance reporting
Generate payroll summaries and reports (e.g., earnings, deductions, leave balances)
Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain best practices in payroll and benefits
Support ongoing improvements to payroll systems, processes, and reporting
Resolve payroll-related questions and ensure timely, accurate responses
Assist with other payroll-related responsibilities as assigned
Is This You?
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience
1-2 years of progressive experience in Accounting or Finance roles
Hands-on experience with Oracle NetSuite (required)
Proficient in third-party payroll platforms (e.g., ADP, ADP TotalSource)
Solid understanding of ASPE, US GAAP, IFRS and cost control principles
Broad knowledge across core accounting functions: A/P, G/L, Payroll, A/R, banking, and financial reporting
Strong communication skills – able to engage effectively across teams and with external stakeholders
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Maintains strict confidentiality and professional integrity
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
