Full-Stack Programming
We are aThemes and we make awesome WordPress themes and plugins. We are now looking for a talented full-stack WordPress developer to join our small but growing team and help us take our products to the next level.
The main product you will be working on is Merchant, which is an all-in-one plugin for WooCommerce with over 40 modules designed to improve conversions for store owners. We have an ambitious roadmap for this product and you will play an instrumental role in realising it.
You might also be asked to contribute to Botiga, which is a WooCommerce theme. Then there is Botiga Pro, a plugin that extends Botiga with additional, advanced features (wishlist, size chart, checkout layouts etc).
This is a fully remote position, meaning you can work from anywhere. However, ideally your working hours should overlap at least a few hours per day with Central European Time (CET).
Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate has worked at another WordPress product company like ours or has developed custom themes and plugins for clients.
What you will do:
Help us deliver on our product roadmap by coding and testing new features
Update themes/plugins with bug fixes and code improvements
Maintain and optimize https://athemes.com
Liaise with the support team to troubleshoot and solve issues
Requirements
2+ years professional experience and strong expertise in PHP/WordPress development
Experience coding custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch
Expert level HTML, CSS (SCSS/SASS)
Strong familiarity with JavaScript (vanilla and jQuery)
Experience working with major plugins like WooCommerce and Elementor
Familiarity with the WordPress Block Editor
Experience using Git and GitHub
A consistent coding style and passion for well-organized, clean code
Ability to convert UI designs to functional, performant code
Knowledge of Full Site Editing
Nice to haves
Published theme/plugin author (or contributor) on a major WordPress marketplace like the .org repo or Envato
Benefits
A salary of $35,000 – $55,000 USD, based on your experience and location.
This is a full-time, 100% remote position. Work from wherever you want in the world.
True flexibility. While we do ask for a few hours of overlap with CET each day, outside of that, you are free to work whenever suits you best.
Massive autonomy. No one likes to be micro-managed, and we don’t like to micro-manage anyone (if you need that kind of hand holding and direction, we’re not going to be your cup of tea!). We hire people who are excited to own their work and we look to you to tell us the big levers in your role that’ll make the most impact.
Competitive compensation. Everyone on our team is an expert at what they do and we believe in paying people fairly for their contribution.
Be part of a small team (you will be our fourth developer) trying to make a difference in the WordPress world.
About aThemes:
‘The ‘a’ in aThemes stands for Awesome. That’s right — we don’t beat around the bush.
We create well-designed and easy to use WordPress themes and plugins, backed by speedy support and frequent updates. We have 100k+ users from around the world and those numbers are growing.
We’ve been in business since 2013, and profitable since day one. We are carving our own path in the WordPress world — no investor money, nor financial obligations to anyone but ourselves.
With a flat structure, everyone on the team works closely with the CEO and each other. We don’t believe things are set in stone. We want to find the best ideas and go big. We create the space and give our team the autonomy to do that.
As a 100% remote company, distributed globally we don’t mind where you work: from home, a co-working space, a coffee shop — wherever you feel the most inspired.
The Application Process:
It’s important we find the best candidate for this position, and our selection process will reflect this.
If we think you are a good fit, you’ll be asked to carry out a paid trial task and be invited to at least one remote interview before we make you an offer.
We’re fortunate to receive a large volume of applications, so be sure to make your application stand out. Please pay special attention to the main responsibilities of this role, make sure you meet the requirements, and give us a good reason to select you!
