About the Department/Position:
Under the general direction of the AVP Infrastructure and Compliance/CISO and as part of a team, the Security Cloud Architect is responsible for providing complex technical support for structured Enterprise Architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and on-premise-to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps. This incumbent has direct hands-on experience designing, developing, configuring, and deploying cloud-based infrastructure in Azure and AWS on technology infrastructure, network, computer, storage, and virtualization; integration of cloud services with on-premise technologies from Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Oracle, Alcatel Lucent, Nutanix, Dell, etc. Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Ruby, Powershell); Assist Associate Vice President with building the standards for infrastructure, deployment, and security implementations with the ability to understand the future state of technology and the industry; assist with the planning, design, development, and deployment of infrastructure projects, making sure timelines and deliverables are met, and ensuring technical documentation are completed accurately, using the guidelines recommended by the Chancellor’s Office, industry standards, and the campus development standards.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide complex technical support for structured Enterprise Architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and on-premise-to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps and design.
• Design, develop, configure, test, and deploy cloud-based infrastructure in Azure and AWS on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization.
• Integration of cloud services with on-premise technologies
• Analyze cloud service usage and recommend more efficient usage of resources.
• Research all user issues and independently resolve a wide range of technical problems for a diverse constituency of campus users.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Equivalent to eight (8) years of related work experience developing and maintaining enterprise-level infrastructure in Azure and/or AWS Cloud Service Architecture. Strong track record of implementing and maintaining Azure and/or AWS Services in a variety of distributed computing environments.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
• Twelve years of relevant full-time experience may be substituted for the previously listed education and experience requirement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of:
• Direct hands-on experience designing, developing, configuring, and deploying of cloud-based infrastructure in Azure and AWS on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization.
• Enterprise Identity management practices and solutions such as MIM.
• Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Ruby, Powershell)
• Campus-defined systems, applications, and standards
• Structured cloud design and deployment techniques
• Proven knowledge and skills in cloud infrastructure configuration management and systems analysis
• Ability to:
• Integrate and apply work-related knowledge to achieve innovative solutions.
• Anticipate the impact of problems and solutions on other systems.
• Investigate and research new systems and technologies and develop complex information technology systems and solutions.
• Strong track record of successfully implementing Azure and/or AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments. Experience managing data center operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting and notifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master or above in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field and three (3+) years of work-related experience.
• Preferred Experience:
A minimum of four years of higher education experience.
Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Ruby, HTML, JavaScript, Powershell)
• Experience managing data center operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting, and notifications
Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment
