We’re looking for a Head of Media to help us build a media empire at Leland across video, social, editorial, and other forms of content. In this role, you’ll lead the strategy and execution of our content across social media, YouTube, paid social, brand, creative, SEO, and other creative channels. You’ll have the opportunity to shape Leland’s brand and content voice, build a high-performing team, and scale our media presence.
What you’ll be doing:
Note that as a part of this role, you will hire additional team members to help you execute on these initiatives, but we’re big believers in leaders that are doers too.
Lead content strategy & execution: Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy across various channels—iterating quickly to identify the highest priority channels and strategies that scale.
Produce engaging video content: Oversee the creation of compelling video content that highlights the stories, knowledge, and expertise from Leland’s platform.
Drive SEO growth: Work closely with our SEO lead to drive organic traffic by ensuring Leland’s content ranks competitively across target keywords.
Drive editorial content growth: Collaborate with our editorial lead to create timely, shareable stories about Leland’s coaches, customers, and categories.
Build Leland’s social media engine: Develop and execute a strategy to grow Leland’s presence on TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and other social channels by building a team that can create engaging, shareable content that builds our brand and resonates with our audience.
Define creative direction: Work with our design team to produce visually captivating content and brand assets that reinforce Leland’s identity and voice.
Define content calendar: Maintain a robust content calendar and workflow that ensures the timely production, publication, and distribution of all content.
Innovate and experiment: Stay on top of content trends, experiment with new formats, and continuously innovate to engage and grow our audience.
Your skills & experience:
7-10+ years of experience in content, media, creative, or brand, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment.
Expertise in producing high-quality video content and creating written materials that connect with diverse customer segments.
Understanding of SEO best practices, keyword strategy, and how to optimize content for organic search.
Ability to lead and inspire creative teams, ensuring brand consistency, speed, and high-quality production across all platforms.
Experience interpreting content performance data and refining strategies based on insights.
Ability to collaborate effectively with marketing, design, and product teams to align content with broader company goals.
A hands-on, “scrappy” mindset—you’re not afraid to take on any task, but you can also drive high-level strategy and growth.
