We are looking for a Principal Revenue Accountant to play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our revenue recognition processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards, analyzing revenue transactions, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to support our growth and financial reporting needs. Key Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end revenue recognition process in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Review and analyze customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
Collaborate with Sales, Legal, and Deal Desk teams to ensure alignment between contractual terms and revenue recognition principles.
Prepare revenue journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close activities.
Assist in the implementation of revenue recognition software and systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Monitor and document changes in revenue recognition policies and their impact on financial statements.
Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to revenue.
Prepare financial reports, including revenue forecasts and variance analysis, to senior management.
Maintain the Order to Cash internal control environment.
Review current processes and workflows and make recommendations as needed to ensure more efficient and productive results.
Special projects and tasks as directed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
8+ years of revenue accounting experience in software/tech industry or Big 4.
Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles.
Experience with SaaS revenue recognition is a significant plus.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex contractual terms.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, meeting tight deadlines.
