Murmuration

Murmuration

Human Resource

Who We Are

Murmuration is a nonprofit organization that amplifies the power of civic engagement by providing data, digital tools, and research-driven insights to community-focused organizations so that together we can create an America where everyone can lead healthy, free, and dignified lives.

Every day, people are trying to shape our future for the better. Fighting for water that’s safe to drink. Schools that serve students equitably. Gun laws that make sense. And rallying people who care like we do. And yet too often the skillful organizers working to mobilize communities lack access to technology that could supercharge their efforts. Knocking on every door instead of knowing which will open most easily. And going up against outside interests that have half the heart, but twice the tools.

In communities across America, Murmuration’s partners are leveraging our data, tools, and insights to help thousands of organizers orchestrate millions of individual people to do big things together. Demand big things together. To create the world they want. Together.

About the Position

We’re looking for a collaborative, meticulous, and people-centric HR Manager to join our People team. This role will focus on iterating and implementing robust HR practices and processes with accuracy and efficiency. You’ll have the opportunity to manage core HR processes including but not limited to payroll and interstate benefits administration, policies, and immigration. You’ll engage with staff across all levels and functions across the organization, to ensure staff are aware, educated, and feel supported navigating HR-related issues.

Note: At Murmuration, we are committed to becoming an even more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. To this end, all staff members are expected to actively participate in DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging) programming.

What You’ll Do:

Complete I-9 Employment verification for all new hires;
Action all employee changes, ensuring alignment with Finance and maintaining proper documentation for employee files; and
Facilitate the change process for end-of-year and mid-year compensation cycles along with any off-cycle changes relating to merit, promotion, equity adjustment, or employee transfers.
Compliance/Policies
Stay up to date on evolving legal requirements and ensure that policies and procedures are compliant with federal, state, and local laws;
Individual state compliance requirements could include changes to minimum wage for exempt employees, changes to paid family leave programs and policies regarding final wages for terminated employees to name a few examples.
Collaborate with Legal to resolve any compliance-related issues;
Research, draft, and implement clear HR policies to guide and support staff throughout the organization;
In partnership with the organization’s PEO, track upcoming and/or net new federal and state compliance requirements impacting the organization from a people perspective; and
