We are seeking an experienced Senior Device Engineer to lead the full lifecycle development of secure, internet-connected embedded devices – from initial design through to final product delivery. This critical role demands expertise across hardware, software, and manufacturing disciplines to create market-ready devices that meet the highest security and quality standards.

This role requires the selected candidate to be based in United Kingdom to comply with onsite requirements.
Responsibilities:
Lead cross-functional teams in the end-to-end development of secure embedded devices, from concept to mass production.
Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) integrated with secure elements like hardware security modules (HSMs) and secure boot capabilities.
Architect embedded software stacks including real-time operating systems (RTOS), drivers, security middleware, and application layers.
Implement secure boot, hardware-based encryption, and other robust security controls across hardware and software components.
Ensure seamless hardware/software integration, system validation, and security testing throughout the development lifecycle.
Collaborate with manufacturing partners to transition proven designs into secure, high-quality production runs.
Conduct comprehensive security risk assessments and threat modeling to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
Maintain compliance with industry security standards (ISO 27001, NIST 800-53) and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring team members in embedded systems development and security best practices.
Skills:
7+ years of experience in embedded systems design, from concept through manufacturing, for internet-connected devices.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
Extensive experience in PCB design, schematic capture, and layout using industry tools like Altium, Cadence, Eagle, KiCad, etc.
Proven expertise in embedded C/C++ programming for microcontroller and microprocessor platforms.
Strong skills in embedded Linux, drivers, BSPs, firmware, and security middleware development.
In-depth understanding of security architectures, cryptography, secure coding, and penetration testing.
Experience with hardware-based security controls like HSMs, secure boot, memory protection, and encryption.
Familiarity with requirements for regulatory compliance like FCC, CE, and safety certifications.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to coordinate across teams.
Strong problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.
Nice to have:
Experience with ARM TrustZone, Intel SGX, or other secure processor architectures.
Knowledge of wireless networking protocols like WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, etc.
Familiarity with IoT cloud platforms, device management, and OTA update mechanisms.
Knowledge of zero-knowledge proof systems (SNARKs or STARKs).
Understanding of blockchain technology architectures like Ethereum, including hashing algorithms, consensus mechanisms, and distributed ledger concepts.
