Position Summary
We are seeking a client-facing Designer to join our Creative Team. As our first dedicated Merchant Services Designer, you’ll partner with our Enterprise onboarding team to support successful launches by delivering exceptional designs of Okendo’s products for our customers.
On behalf of Okendo, you’ll meet with our customers directly during the onboarding process to discover their needs, establish their brand design aesthetic, and create visually appealing designs that effectively utilize Okendo’s products while representing the merchant’s brand.
As needed, you will also support other Creative Team tasks, including but not limited to designing graphics for social media and blog posts, website page design, and slides. You can also be brought in to partner with our product team to support UI/UX designs, including but not limited to designing templates & other solutions that can scale our products and services offerings.
How you’ll create impact:
Design
– Deliverables for merchants using their branding including landing pages, Okendo widgets, iconography, and more as needed.
– Templates and tools that optimize Okendo’s products, to be shared with agency partners and Okendo’s product team to implement within the products.
Design Tool Proficiency
– Utilize Figma as your primary design software to create visually appealing designs to be shared with merchants for approval and developers for implementation.
– Some use of the Adobe Creative Suite as needed.
Customer Discovery and Client Services
– Work directly with Shopify merchants (Okendo’s customers) to determine their needs for each project (according to their brand’s design), create and present design solutions, and incorporate feedback.
– Create visually stunning designs that will contribute to a showcase of referenceable customer examples to drive demand generation efforts (https://okendo.io/inspiration/).
– Utilize your expert presentation and communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with merchants.
– Actively incorporate internal and client feedback to refine and enhance your designs.
Participate in the QA process along with the Support team.
Product Knowledge and Representation
– Immerse yourself in ongoing Okendo product training to gain a deep understanding of our offerings and effectively represent them in design materials.
– Gain an understanding of the general ecommerce landscape, especially the Shopify ecosystem.
– Learn the Okendo Platform and products inside and out in order to better design for merchants.
– Research the field of similar products and identify optimizations for the product team, designing templates and solutions that will be implemented within the products.
Detail-Oriented Project Management
– Manage multiple projects and forecast completion using Asana, consulting with project management as needed.
– Manage workflow by understanding, refining, and improving upon design briefs, meeting deadlines, and maintaining an organized workflow.
Cross-functional Collaboration
– Report to the Lead Designer while collaborating closely with the Product Management, Support, and Onboarding teams
What we need from you:
– 3-4 years of design experience in client-facing environment or related field
– A robust and visually engaging portfolio
– UI/UX experience
– Experience in the ecommerce industry
– Attention to detail + process-oriented
– Manage multiple projects simultaneously, understanding expectations, meeting deadlines, and maintaining an organized workflow.
– Self-starter with the ability to quickly adapt to new projects and challenges
– Expertly utilize Figma to translate design concepts into visually stunning creations.
– Actively incorporate feedback from the Lead Designer, merchant/client, and other team members to refine and enhance your designs.
– Strong communication and client management skills
– US-based but available for APAC merchant meetings (working Mountain or West Coast time)
