The Role

 

As a Research Consultant in AI at Prolific, you will be the key stakeholder to our clients who are at the cutting edge of developing innovative approaches to harness, analyze, and optimize high-quality human-generated data for leading AI models. In this role, you’ll work with client teams to design experiments and support the training & collection of human data. You will tackle complex operational challenges and conduct in-depth analyses to enhance project instructions and training, ensuring the highest quality standards. Additionally, you will serve as the key point of contact between customer requirements and task communication to Prolific’s AI Taskers & Panel management team, while optimizing the overall experience of various stakeholders involved. This is a cross-functional role that will be a key partner to our sales, panel management, product, and tech teams.

 

 

 

What you’ll be doing in the role 

 

Designing and Overseeing Research Tasks: Work with clients to create tasks and experiments that ensure high-quality data collection and enhance participant experience, focusing on effective human-AI interaction. 

Training and Managing Taskers: Partner with the Sciences team and panel management team to develop and deliver training for taskers, ensuring readiness for client-specific experiments and maintaining quality standards.

Client Relationship Management: Lead research projects with strong client communication, managing relationships, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Collaborating with Cross-Functional Teams: Coordinate with engineering and product teams to translate research insights into scalable AI solutions that address client needs and improve human-AI interaction.

Identifying Growth and Commercial Opportunities: Work with sales and marketing teams to identify growth opportunities, enhance client acquisition, and strengthen retention across customer segments.

 

 

What you’ll bring to this role

 

Extensive experience in designing and executing qualitative and quantitative research projects and an in-depth knowledge of various research methodologies. You are proficient in survey tools such as Qualtrics and have a solid understanding of common programming languages used in AI, such as Python and R.

Have experience working with clients in the AI space who are focused on foundational model building & training (AI alignment, AI safety, and human-AI interaction).

A proven track record of leading complex client research projects end-to-end with an emphasis on client communication and relationship management.

You can excel in a project-based environment and have the ability to juggle multiple projects & priorities, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis.

An Optimistic self-starter who can effectively partner with stakeholders across the business to drive priorities & objectives forward (e.g. sales, marketing, product, panel management, etc)

As a member of a new team, you are able to thrive in a dynamic & changing environment and are comfortable with change

Experience with advanced human-AI interaction techniques, particularly RLHF and other human-in-the-loop learning methods

Expertise in designing or implementing data quality measurement systems for human-generated data

Deep understanding of frontier models (e.g., large language models, multimodal models) and their human data requirements

Ideally you would have Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
