Web Designer – Remote

What We’re Looking For
Desired Education
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in art, design, web design, or related degree)
General Knowledge
Knowledge of web design conventions
Knowledge of user experience, web standards, optimization, and best practices
HTML5 and CSS3 skills are essential
Basic PHP/MySQL knowledge
Knowledge of open source CMS such as WordPress
Knowledge of responsive design best practices
Experience
Strong English (written and verbal). Resume must be in English to be considered.
Minimum 1 year (2 years or more desired) experience as a web designer
Impressive portfolio with a proven track record in designing for the web
Outstanding skills in Photoshop
Ability to quickly build modern CSS layouts
Qualities
Takes direction well, but also able to make decisions and take initiative
Enjoys typography and color theory
Stays up-to-date on the latest web technologies
Professional, dependable, solid work ethic, detail-oriented, self-motivated

What You’ll Do
Responsibilities
Work on 60+ projects a year
Create prototypes for home pages, inner pages, and more
Design and build responsive websites
Theme WordPress CMS builds (programmers code and build custom functionality)
Design infographics
Design landing pages
Design display ads
Design social branding and contests
UX projects
Develop A/B tests
Percentage Breakdown
35% designing homepage and inner page prototypes for various clients using the Adobe Creative Suite
25% helping to build/launch websites for various clients using HTML, CSS and PHP
25% working on site enhancements for clients in various CMSs including WordPress
15% creating online advertisements, social media branding and identity, and content marketing pieces such as infographics

Working Hours
Asia (Philippines / Indonesia)
This position requires overlapping hours from 3:30 AM EST – 12:00 PM EST (New York Time Zone) Monday – Friday.
Africa / Europe (Ghana, UK, Ireland, Kenya, etc)
This position requires overlapping hours from 6:00 AM EST – 2:30 PM EST, Monday – Friday. The 40 hours of work doesn’t include any lunch or breaks.
This excludes South Africa, where our in-office team follows a different schedule.
North America & South America
This position requires overlapping hours from 8:00 AM EST – 4:30 PM EST, Monday – Friday. The 40 hours of work doesn’t include any lunch or breaks.
This excludes Guatemala, where our in-office team follows a different schedule.
