Position description

IYF seeks a Project Officer who will support the project team for an anticipated five-year, multi-country project funded by USAID. The project aims to strengthen the enabling environment for a more equitable and sustainable health system to increase access to health services, supplies, and information, including voluntary FP/RH and FP/RH integration with HIV/AIDS and MCH, with a focus on meeting the needs of youth and adolescents as well as advance gender equality and equity for all. The ideal candidate will have strong competency in program coordination, partnership management, detail-oriented, with excellent writing and communication skills and a commitment to global youth development. This is a full-time position.

REQUIREMENTS:

As a Project Officer, the position will play a crucial role in facilitating the project's success by working closely with the Project Director, Deputy Project Directors, and Senior Technical Advisors. Key duties include:

Program management:

  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of workplans in collaboration with core and in-country technical leads;
  • Contribute to editing, formatting and reviewing reports and all other contractual deliverables and technical project documents;
  • Source internal and external technical assistance as needed, including drafting and managing scopes of work, and ensuring that the technical assistance meets expectations;
  • Escalate any ethics and performance issues and work with Program Management Lead and relevant departments for their timely resolution.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with the core and in-country technical leads to manage and document project deliverables and milestones are met on schedule and to the expected quality standards;
  • Provide support to the project consortium, contributing to the development, implementation, and reporting of project activities;
  • Manage coordination and communication among project consortium members, external partners, interagency technical working groups, and cross-portfolios within IYF.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide ongoing administrative support to the project team to ensure compliance and adherence to project timelines;
  • Create resource lists or guidelines for the project consortium based on the project plan;
  • Responds to and resolves administrative inquiries and questions;
  • Coordinate and schedules travel, meetings, and appointments for managers or supervisors;
  • Prepare agendas and schedules for meetings; Record and distribute minutes or other records for meetings.

Learning and Knowledge Management:

  • Lead the development and execution of learning sessions, webinars and other project consortium learning meetings in collaboration with IYF teams and/or external partners.

Digital Platform Management:

  • Manage the digital platforms of the project including the PROPEL Y&G website, ensure information needs and requests are met.

Other:

  • Provide on-demand operational support as needs arise, in domains such as human resources, procurement, or other operations-related areas.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least three (3) years of experience working in international development, youth development, and gender equality or Master’s degree;
  • Proven experience in project coordination or related roles;
  • Strong Experience cultivating relationships and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders, including donors, technical partners, young people on a local, regional, and/or global level;
  • Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills;
  • Spoken and written fluency in English required. Professional proficiency in French or other languages are a plus;
  • Excellent computer skills using MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, SharePoint, Salesforce, and other digital tools;
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
