Over 100 million love songs have been recorded. That makes it 60% of all recorded songs in the world. Why love? It is the most magical beautiful and sensational experience in human existence. The moment it touches your heart, your mind turns on the best version of yourself. A sense of optimism develops, seeing only opportunity and no problem. Seeing only possibilities and no obstacle. Seeing only good in another and no wrong. It becomes the foundation all other life virtues i.e. courage, honesty, wisdom, etc. stand on. Love is what makes life sweet, makes people cool, keeps things simple, drives inspiration, and keeps one step ahead of the other to progress.
It is so powerful it cures pain; so enriching it makes you just wanna give and give and again; so inspiring it turns on all nerves of creativity. That's why they say, do what you love then for sure you'll do it best. Believe me, you cannot be capable of happiness and harmony until you are able to love. Neither can you be capable of injustice until you have forsaken love? Everything good comes out of it, and can only exist through it.
I know they don't include it when they mention basic needs but believe me in the absence of love, a person gives up everything including those basic needs -- this makes it more basic than all basic needs combined. I know they say that kings have waged wars against enemies because of so much hate in their hearts but believe it is their queens they wanted to impress.
Like that young prince of Troy who stole the princess of Greece( with her consent) and brought her with him to Troy. When the Greek King heard about her taken daughter he immediately waged a war against Troy, it lasted 10 years. 10 years! The father loved his daughter so much he wanted her back. The young prince loved his bride so much he was willing to fight just to stay with her. Love!
Like that young man in Kwanda (Rwanda) kingdom, East Africa, soon after falling in love with a beautiful girl, he had to leave for war. Legend has it that a part of him stayed behind with her and part of her left with him. Neither was at peace. When the young man reached the front lines, every time he tried to pull the bow and shoot the arrow his heart ached. Back home, the girl fell sick, she could not eat, could not drink, could not work. Every time she tried, her heart ached. Love!
Like that girl in Soweto when she heard the tale about how when a girl wants to marry a prince must go out to find a frog then kiss it and it'll turn into a handsome Prince. The young girl went on and on finding and kissing frogs but none turned into the handsome prince. Every man who approached proposed she turned down all she wanted was the handsome prince until one day she realized she was not getting any younger so she stopped, promised herself never to kiss a frog again. Love!
Like writers say, "You are sunlight through a window, which I stand in, warmed. My darling." "You may doubt the stars are fire, doubt the sun does move but never doubt, I love you."
"I could've waited a hundred years more, if I knew you'd be right there, at their end, my love."
