Salary: National – ranging from £49,700 - £65,000 and London from £53,300 - £72,000 per annum

The team/ department 

The FCA is a leading global regulator shaping the international regulatory agenda to advance open markets in the interest of UK consumers, firms, and the economy. The International Division helps the FCA achieve this by leading on our relationships with overseas regulators, governments, and other institutions; working collectively to shape international policy. The Division is currently working with stakeholders across the FCA, to re-examine the FCA’s International Function, helping the FCA build capabilities and achieve the greatest impact internationally.

 

What you will be doing (the role)  

We are recruiting for an International Intelligence Specialist to join the International Strategy and Delivery Team. This role provides an exciting opportunity to help the Department and wider FCA build its intelligence and understanding of overseas jurisdictions. This role would suit someone with a strong interest in international relations, who has the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to define what the FCA needs and design and deliver high quality analysis and insights in response.

 

The successful candidate will get exposure to a broad range of issues including how the FCA responds to the challenges and opportunities of global markets, and key developments in the international landscape. As a result, you will shape the way we think about and approach regulation, and what the future of financial services looks like both in the UK and globally, for years to come.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and setting up a new approach to the FCA’s international intelligence gathering and horizon scanning

  • Targeted monitoring and horizon scanning of regulatory and relevant political developments in priority jurisdictions

  • Taking information from different sources and developing it with additional analysis to provide regular products for consideration elsewhere in the business

  • Improve our understanding and intelligence regarding international peers, allowing us to appropriately calibrate our regulatory response and inform our understanding of the UK’s relative competitive position

  • Improving our intelligence gathering on geopolitical issues, supporting clear engagement strategies and allowing us to better identify and understand emerging international trends

The skills and experience you will have  

 

Minimum  

We are a signatory to the Government’s Disability Confident scheme. This means that we will offer an interview to disabled candidates entering under the scheme, should they meet the minimum criteria for a role.   

  • Experience of delivering horizon scanning/intelligence gathering with either an international or financial services focus

  • Experience of coordinating and delivering work with, and through others, across an organisation

  • Demonstrable experience in an analytical role, with ability to identify and communicate relevant issues from a wide range of data points and analyses

 

Essential

  • Experience of implementing initiatives to improve services delivered to internal teams

  • Clear and confident communications style, including communicating effectively in person and writing succinctly and clearly for an audience, even where issues are complex

  • The demonstrable organisation, prioritization, and time management skills
