Position description

We are currently looking for an Analyst to join one of the groups specialist divisions. This division partners with governments, civil society, foundations, academia, and the private sector, to work on the critical issues of our time, including the climate emergency, national security, social justice, conflict prevention, and sustainable development. We provide a fully integrated, end to end service, combining multi-discipline communications teams with subject matter experts, across the world. Our work is domestic and global, often affecting the most vulnerable in society, with international activity orientated towards conflict affected or developing countries.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Using media monitoring and social listening software tools to gather open-source data and analyzing findings from these sources to contribute to both internal and client-facing briefings and written reports
    • Providing regional expertise on the Middle East, especially its internal and inter-state politics
    • [Desirable] Providing thematic expertise related to security or defence
    • Providing insight to support development of communications strategies; development of creative briefs; campaign assessment reports; other ad hoc research tasks, as directed.
    • Providing support to other project/regional/thematic-assigned analysts, as required.
    • Engaging with external suppliers to trial new products, troubleshoot existing services, update the supplier with new parameters or tasks, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of the domestic politics and foreign policy of one or more Middle Eastern states
  • Degree [Masters desirable] in a relevant academic field: International Relations, Political Science, area studies, other related humanities or social science)
  • Working proficiency in Arabic
  • Interest in the Middle East region, ideally with experience of having lived, worked or studied there
  • Excellent writing, editing, analytical and presentational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and to rapid deadlines
  • [Desirable] Working proficiency in additional languages
  • [Desirable] Familiarity with media monitoring tools or Boolean logic
